Your Questions Answered

Q. How safe is it for me to use the large display fireworks from your range?

A. In short, provided that you adhere strictly to the guidelines in our safety guide they are just like any other fireworks that you may have used. Holding a really exciting display is well within everyone’s capability. Remember though that fireworks must never be misused and the safety of everyone involved is of the highest priority.

Q. What sort of fireworks can I buy and what do they do?

A. We have a huge range available that will provide something for everyone. We sell selection packs that give you a ready made display complete with suggested firing order, special single ignition fireworks to give a spectacular, shorter effect, rocket only packs and many more.  Of course we also create tailor made displays to meet your exact needs. Our fireworks guide  will give you all the information that you require.

Q. Aren’t some fireworks illegal now?

A. Yes they are and for different reasons. Suffice it to say that you should only buy from reputable licensed companies like Brilliant. Please avoid back street operators for your and everybody elses safety. We will only sell you fireworks that comply with BS7114.2.88. Fireworks that do not comply with this standard must not be sold to or be in possession of the general public.

Q. Surely if I want to put a display together the cost of these bigger fireworks is going to be huge? I’ve seen fireworks priced at over £120.00 each on other sites.

Purchased individually that may be true. That’s why it makes sense to choose one of our firework selections. These are carefully selected display packs that take the chore out of choosing individually and provide the display that is right for you, all at excellent prices.

Q. Are there restrictions on where fireworks can be used?

A. You can use fireworks on privately owned ground provided you have permission to do so and that it is a suitable site. You can use our safety guide  to help check this. If you wish to use public or common land you must obtain permission from the landowner concerned e.g. Local Authority.

Q. Do I need a huge area to fire my fireworks in?

A. Not necessarily though the bigger the better. Once again the most important consideration is one of safety. Our safety guide  contains a diagram that sets out the necessary safety distances required. Spectators must never be within 25 metres of the display area and this limit should be roped or taped off. A distance of 35 metres is desirable. There must also be a fallout area to the rear of the firing area, for items such as rocket sticks and other small debris items. This area should be a minimum of 50 metres deep. Once again 75 – 100 metres is preferable. There should be no power lines or overhanging trees in the vicinity.

Q .Do I need a licence to fire the fireworks?

A. No there is no licence required to allow you to fire the fireworks that we supply you.  If we are firing   a display on your behalf you can rest assured that all our operators are trained and authorised to do so.

Q. Who do I need to inform if I am going to fire fireworks?

A. This is largely a matter of courtesy. You should tell local residents of your intentions. Premises where livestock is kept either indoors or outdoors. The local police and fire brigade should also be made aware. In areas on the coast or near airports it is wise to inform maritime or aviation authorities. We can help with this.

Q. What if our event will be too busy and I won’t have time to fire the fireworks myself?

A. Simple! Just talk to us about firing the display for you. Better still why not let us create e a custom displayfor you?Just let us know what you are looking for and we’ll do the rest! Everything will be taken care of and the display will be fired expertly by one of our own operators.

Q. What about insurance cover?

A. All displays fired by Brilliant Fireworks are covered by our own extensive insurance arrangements. If you are organising a public display you should arrange your own cover. We can help you with this.

Q. What if it rains on the day?

A. Normally rain will not prevent us firing the display. If the audience can keep their spirits up then the show will go on! The biggest hazard for a firework display is strong wind. Whilst we will always try to run the display wherever possible, if the danger is too great we will cease the display. Our decision will be final.

Q. Are there restrictions on when I can let off fireworks?

A. You can use any of the fireworks that we supply you at any time of the year. You should not fire any fireworks after 11.00pm and not before 7.00am in the morning. The exceptions to this are New Years Day, Chinese New Year and Diwali when the time is extended to 1.00am. Please always be considerate to neighbours and ensure that you follow our safety guide.
